Choosing my classes was one of the hardest things I had to do when coming to Ambrose. It felt overwhelming to look at the list of classes and outline my first two semesters without knowing profs or if I would have friends in the classes I picked. I thought that this schedule was something that could not be changed. I assumed that when I pushed submit it was gone and my year was set, but, THAT’S NOT THE CASE!

You learn to mature because you find the mature and adult perspective of university is balanced by the freedom that comes with being an adult student. As students we usually go to university to gain knowledge from experienced and highly educated professors, to prepare for our futures through education, and to live in a Christ-centered community. I have been in post-secondary education for four years now, and this year in particular, I am starting to understand all of the values above as one rather than three separate things.
Are you worried about how you will get around in Calgary? Not sure if it’s practical without a vehicle? It is not as big of a problem as it may seem. Many of the students here at Ambrose do not have vehicles, and if they do they are more then will to drive those who do not.

One of the not-so-positive things about starting university is that it can mean leaving good friends behind. This was definitely hard for me and I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to make new friends. Fortunately, university is a great place to make friends quickly and easily!

We just had reading week! And while it is a great opportunity to relax or go for a short trip, reading week is also a great time to actually read!
So, it’s not a secret that out of the universities in Calgary, Ambrose is one of the smallest. Our student body is growing like crazy, but we’re still just under a thousand students. And some of you may see that reality as a negative thing, because the size of school is often seen as what determines the number of opportunities for students. But, I’m here to tell you not only that a small university is awesome, but also that it really should be preferred. Here’s why:

Attending a smaller-sized university has many perks. One of them is being able to easily get involved with clubs. One of the clubs at Ambrose is the Social Justice team. It is a great place to get involved in both the local community and the global community.
