Hey! My name is Thando Mkhabela and I am a senior student ambassador this year. I’m just here to let you know a little bit about myself as well as my journey at Ambrose. I am currently in my third year in the Behavioural Science (BHS) program. I’m in this program because I enjoy hearing people’s stories. I really like hearing where people have been, the situations they’ve faced and how it has impacted them. Based on all of this, I thought the BHS program would be a great fit and it has definitely turned out to be.
Since I’m interested in hearing the stories of others, I thought I would share a little bit of mine. Within these short few years, I’ve learned a lot academically and spiritually. I guess you could say that in my first couple of years, I was “a typical student”. I would go to social events, classes, hang with friends and that’s about it. However, this past summer, God really showed me the amazing opportunity that I have to serve and grow at Ambrose. Because of this call to serve my community, I am now a senior student ambassador, the Vice President of Social Events, and a chapel worship team member. All of these roles are putting me in positions to bring a new perspective to Ambrose and to serve the community. It’s crazy how I basically went from zero to one hundred! I have to say, even with such a busy life, I’m really enjoying being able to serve the Ambrose community in many different ways.I’ve told you a bit about my journey at Ambrose, now let me tell you a few facts about me:
- I was born in South Africa and moved to Canada when I was 7 years old
- English is not my first language (siSwati is my native language)
- I’m really into R&B and Rap (I also sing and play guitar and tenor saxophone)
- I really get into dance crazies super easily and can pick them up super quick (I learned a dance in 10 minutes once)
- I have an Instagram theme!
Throughout this year, I can’t wait to share my journey, the things that interest me and perhaps even answer any questions you have about university or life!
