It is officially Reading Week! For many university students, this mid-semester break allows for many of us to take a break and relax, get a head start on assignments and plan out the rest of the semester. Reading break is a great way to evaluate how second semester is going and to regain some more energy and enthusiasm about the rest of the term. I decided to interview some Ambrose students to see what they’re doing with their week off.
What are your plans for reading week?
Nikki can der Molen: I am taking a modular course. As an RA (residence assistant), I wanted to take a lighter course load over the semester, and so I’m fulfilling my 5 courses by doing this. I also really liked the idea of pounding out a course in just a week.
Jacinta Suma: This week I am working on LYC (Legacy Youth Conference) entertainment night skits. I am the main choreographer for a few of the skits and so I’ll be spending my week setting all of that up. I’ll also be studying for a midterm next week, as well as work on an assignment. I’ll finish off the week by spending the day in Banff with my best friend.
Brooklyn Dyck: My plans are homework, but mostly Women’s Volleyball provincials in Lloydminster. We’ll spend time practicing, attending a banquet, as well as playing games throughout the rest of the week against some of the best teams in the province. We’re all super excited to be able to compete and work together as a team!
Carlos Bantaya: My plans for reading week are to catch up on my sleep and to put some extra workouts on the court. I also plan to read, do some homework and watch movies. Overall, a bit of relaxing and some work too.
Just by asking this simple question I was able to get a variety of responses. Like many of these students, I’ll be spending my week relaxing as well as starting to work on a few assignments. All in all, the possibilities are endless. Just remember to take a bit of a break this reading week and to enjoy some time off! I hope everyone has a fun and relaxing reading week!
