Are you scared about moving onto residence? Are you nervous about making friends? Well I am here to tell you that there is nothing to be afraid of! I moved onto residence when I was in my first year and I have loved it ever since. The sense of community is overwhelming and the support you will receive is phenomenal. I am going to share with you my 4 residence highlights!
Pod Bonding
For those of you who have never had the chance to visit residence, each floor is split into a guy’s pod and a girl’s pod. This is the big open space that the rooms open onto that has a couch, fridge and microwave. Some of the best memories that I have at Ambrose is being in the pod with the girls on my floor and just chilling. Things that my floor has done include coloring, watching movies, playing video games, eating dinner together and just hanging out!
Here at Ambrose, there are lots of opportunities for watching sports and I have got to tell you, I have made so many memories in the gym. This ranges from Friday night Volleyball, Saturday night Basketball, Monday night Futsal and Monday night Hockey. It is a time to laugh with friends and forget all about the papers you are not writing!! (Wink, Wink)
Residence Wide Events
Something that is super cool and unique to Ambrose are the residence wide events. These are events that the Residence Advisor and the Residence Director plan, and are meant to build a community here on the Ambrose Residence. They are a great opportunity for you to get to know people on different floors and really build community. These events range from movie nights, to live Dutch Blitz, to worship nights, and more! They really are a great time!
Late Night Car Rides
Now this one may seem a little bit weird, but trust me. Chances are one of your friends will have a car and there is nothing better than driving around and jamming out to music. Something that my floor loves to do is go to McDonalds. Those late night hang outs and the memories that have been made are some that I will never forget. I mean what can be better than music and a car full of friends?!
These are just a couple of my experiences that I have had here on Residence and might I add, I would not change a thing. Ambrose Residence has been a place where I have really found myself and I could not be happier. If you are thinking about residence I would say DO IT! You may only get the opportunity once!!
