Hello. (There goes Adelle’s voice in my head…)
Who Am I?
My name is Anna Zipprick and I’m currently a fourth year student here at Ambrose University. I’m working on my Bachelor of Arts degree in Behavioural Science, and I’ve chosen to specialize my degree in International Community Development. I have a passion for working with international communities of people from all over the world. Because of that, it’s fairly common for me to be volunteering with an ESL class, or working with refugee/immigrant communities in some capacity in my spare time. My goal is to focus my career on those people, either from a ministry, non-profit, or government agency focus. My Background
So whenever I’m in a situation where I have to tell a fun fact about myself (I hate those icebreaker games: can you tell I’m an introvert?), I always tell people that I have citizenship in three different countries. True fact: I am Canadian born, with an American mom, and a German dad. Presto! Three passports. So the ‘where’s home for you?’ question is a hard one for me to answer. I was born in Calgary, lived here for seven years, moved to Whitby, Ontario for four years, and then moved to the States for my junior and senior high-school years. Needless to say, I have family and dear friends that live all over the world, and because of that, home is not in a specific location for me. It sounds cheesy, but it is truly where the people I love are.
Oh, and I forgot to mention this small tidbit: when I moved to America, I moved to my mom’s hometown of Hershey, Pennsylvania. Yes. That is where the chocolate was invented. Yes, there is a Hershey’s and Reese’s factory in the town. Yes, it does smell like chocolate and roasting peanuts on certain days.
Fun Facts
- I am an extroverted introvert. That means that I love being with my friends and family, and when it’s my job to socialize, I kick butt at it. But it also means that I often get tired of being social, and that’s when my big comfy chair and blankets call to me.
- I love oversized mugs with fun sayings on them. Seriously. I’m talking about the mugs that you can’t really wrap your hands around fully. If any of you come across a fun one, let me know. I’m working on a collection. J
- I am a knitter. I started knitting before it was cool, y’all. I seriously used to knit when I was 8 years old, and all of my friends and sisters called me ‘granny’. Joke’s on them! Now they’re all wearing my stuff. It’s a big stress reliever for me, especially during crazy midterms or finals season.
- I love hats. I’m one of those people who never thought they could pull off wearing funky cowboy hats and fedoras, but now, I absolutely love them!
- I’m a mocha, latte, cappuccino, and flavoured coffee person. I’ll take plain coffee in a pinch, but only with a fair amount of cream and sugar.
