To be completely honest, I used to think that Ambrose was just another bible college with not much to offer for other programs. I always knew that I wanted to go into a Business Administration program and people would say to me that to do that I needed to go to a provincial university or another big name school.
Because of that stigma, I did end up going to a bigger university for my first year. However, I did not feel like I was receiving the type of education that I required. The classes were huge, it was near impossible to ask questions during class and after class, and there would always be a lineup to see the professor. I had no connection with the professors; I hardly interacted with anyone in any of my classes and because it was a secular university, sometimes the class content was presented in a way that made me feel uncomfortable.
While I was having these doubts about my choice of school, a family member of mine who attends Ambrose told me about the Business Administration program here, but again I dismissed it as being lower quality than the university I was attending.
Eventually I decided to look into Ambrose anyway. The Business Administration program, as I discovered, gives a fully accredited degree at the end of the four-year program and is equivalent to any other university. I came to visit the campus during their Preview Weekend (which was fully paid for by the way!) and just fell in love with the campus.
I also got to meet the Business department head and was very impressed by the variety of courses offered within the department and by the other programs and events such as the Biz Buds, ENACTUS, and the Soul of the Next Economy Forum—all of which I will tell you more about in future posts.
So . . .
To be completely honest, I now know that Ambrose is NOT just another bible college; instead, it’s a FANTASTIC university with a lot to offer to anyone and everyone from all walks of life. After being here for almost a full semester now, I can say that not only have I grown a lot academically, but I have also developed spiritually and have been able to interact better, not only with my immediate classmates, but even with people across campus.
As the year continues, I'm excited to see what more Ambrose has to offer!
