This is my Story

Hi Guys! My name is McKenzie and I am a second year English Literature and Behavioural Science student here at Ambrose. Now you may be asking: why Ambrose? What made you decide that this was where you wanted to get a degree? Believe me, I was asking all of the same questions you are. The answer, it’s NOT that simple. Let me tell you a little bit about who I am and how my journey to Ambrose came about.

Before coming to Ambrose I lived in Innisfail Alberta and attended Gateway Christian School, as well as Lindsey Thurber Comprehensive High School in Red Deer, Alberta. My family consists of my mom, dad, and little sister Camryn. My dad is a pastor at the Nazarene Church in Innisfail and my mom is a Grade 5 teacher at Gateway Christian School.

Throughout this process I picked up thousands of books, looked at thousands of universities and reconsidered programs dozens of times. Picking one was hard; I mean, each of them have something special to offer but, through this whole process, Ambrose seemed to always stand out. I along with my family decided to come and check out the open house and I was sure glad that I did. The professors actually seemed to care about my future and seemed interested in what I was interested in. I really started to feel like the community was becoming a second family within the first week of classes.

Now I am in my second year here at Ambrose and I am loving it! I am living in residence and getting involved in all of the residence events that take place. This year, I am also an Assistant Residence Advisor and a small group leader which I love. I have built a community that has watched and helped me grow and I could not be more thankful for that.

I hope that as you contemplate whether Ambrose is the right institution for you; you will feel the presence of God directing you in his path for your life. Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you saying, “This is the way, walk in it.” ~ Isaiah 30:21.
