School's Out, Summer's In

Hello everyone!

I’m in my final month of school. Everything has gone by so fast. I’ve written my fair share of midterms, completed assignments, played numerous hockey games, gone on many floor social activities, and endured the spontaneous weather in Calgary. Currently, the weather in Calgary is sunny and beautiful, which is rare. I am very excited to be done school. As my Business professor described it, we can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

My anticipation for school to be over is boiling excitement inside of me. This semester, I have five classes but I only have four final exams. It is thrilling to think I am almost done my first year of university. Looking back, I have really grown and matured at university. I have grown deeper in my understanding of Jesus Christ and my faith. Ambrose has provided a great atmosphere where I have built a solid and strong foundation in my commitment in Christ. With the many friends I have made and mentors I have had, Ambrose has guided me and set me on a good path in search for Christ. Ambrose has also instilled in me behaviours that I plan to continue in my summer, like reading my Bible daily, doing my daily devotions, and finding opportunities to love and serve others.

For the summer, I will be working at DECO Windshield Repair. A member of my hockey team recruited me and insisted that DECO would be a great opportunity for me to gain Business skills. The job will allow me to learn HR skills and to practice things I have learned in my Business classes thus far. For those who do not know what DECO is, it is a company that repairs windshield chips on vehicles.

My title will be Site Operator. I will be working in Red Deer (my hometown) where I will be placed in a parking lot with a tent and will fix customers’ windshields. I am really excited to work for DECO because I really enjoy talking to people and finding ways to sell them products that will make their lives better. Also, I love throwing pitches at people and finding creative, fun ways to engage in conversation and captivate the attention of others. My goal is to make enough money to pay for school next year and to get a promotion into management for DECO. Throughout the summer, I do not have many plans other than working. My family will probably have a vacation planned, so I’ll be guaranteed some sort of break.

I look forward to returning to Ambrose in the fall and continuing on my Business Degree.

Until next time!
