But You Don’t Sound Nova Scotian?

Introducing – Me!

Hello! I go by “Mo” because it’s short and sweet, just like me! I enjoy playing games (Dutch Blitz anyone??), and watching movies. I’ve played piano since I was 6 and my favorite colour is pink! (But if you’ve seen my room, you probably already knew that!)Nova_Scotia_Flag.png

I came to Ambrose all the way from Nova Scotia. Yes, Nova Scotia. No, I don’t talk funny. No, I haven’t met Sidney Crosby either. I grew up in the Nazarene Church. (Fun Fact: My home church, Oxford Church of the Nazarene, is the oldest Nazarene church in Canada!)

I am in my first year in the Worship Arts program at Ambrose.

Why Ambrose?

I first learned about Ambrose as a child. I considered the Nazarene Church my church and therefore Ambrose was my school. I remember as a child hearing about Ambrose and thinking that it was so cool that my church had their own school! The summer before grade 9, I attended my first Nazarene Youth Conference (NYC) and it was there that I first felt God calling me into worship ministry full time.

As soon as I knew that I wanted to be a worship pastor, I knew I was going to Ambrose! I know it is uncommon for a 9th grader to have their post-secondary plans figured out, but I did! There was no plan B for me – it was Ambrose or bust!

I did not apply to any other school because I knew I had to be at Ambrose. I wanted a school where I could grow spiritually while learning everything I needed to know for my career. Being so far from home, it was also important to me that I felt like part of a family, not just another face in the crowd. Ambrose does an awesome job at incorporating faith, academics, and community into everything they do!

My plan was confirmed when I received the Presidential Scholarship. For me, it was God paving the way for my dream to come true! Now, half way through my first semester, I’m so glad I followed my dream and, more importantly, God’s call in my life. I love Ambrose and feel at home even though I’m across the country. I’m so thankful for my church family that supported me in my call to Worship Ministry and for my family for letting me go so far away from home!
